CULTURAL SYMBOLS

               A symbol is an object, word, or action that represents a concept.Culture is all of the behaviors, languages, beliefs, traditions, and its shared meaning that guides the standards of a group.Together, a cultural symbol is a symbol that holdsmeaning and understanding for a group.Many groups use symbols to express a concept of their culture.Symbols are used by a culture to express a value of the culture.Cultural symbols allow a group that shares the same beliefs to identify each other based on theexperience of that symbol

       Examples of Cultural Symbols :-

1). Blue Water lily (Sri Lanka)


     The blue water lily was declared the national flower of Sri Lanka on 26 February 1986. It found all the part of Sri Lanka and grows in the shallow water .The flower is considered a symbol of truth , purity and discipline .It has connectionwith Buddha and uses as ceremonial flower in Sri Lanka throughout history .Stamp with a purple lily flower was issued to commemorate the national flower .

2). Christ the Redeemer (Rio de janeiro )



  This monolithic sculpture stands at nearly 40 meters tall above the city of Rio de Janeiro .The open arms of Christ signify openness to the people of Brazil , and others .However , over time , these reli gious connotations have universally trans lated to represent Brazil as a whole .

3).African Adinkra Symbols.

      Adinkra symbols are visual symbols, originally created by the Akan people in Ghana, West Africa.Each symbol has a distinct meaning, often representing concepts such as wisdom, bravery, or unity.These symbols are used on fabric, pottery, and walls, conveying philosophical thoughts and traditional wisdom

4). Lotus Temple (New Delhi)

5). Pyramids of Giza (Eygpt)


     Egypt Over four thousand years since their construction , the Pyramids of Giza have remained lasting symbols of Egypt's ven erated Old Kingdom era .These monu mental tombs were dedicated to Egypt's pharaohs in preparation for the afterlife , almost mediation between life and death .Built to withstand time , the Pyramids themselves are undeniably a preservation of every aspect of Egyptian life .
